Live Performance Review: Daughtry (Acoustic)

Live Performance Review: Daughtry (Acoustic)
It’s hard to give a full review of a small acoustic performance set in the 2nd floor of a bar. Chris Daughtry and two other band members sat up on stage and gently performed four songs, all while chatting and joking with some members of the crowd. It was all very relaxing and casual as the hoodie wearing Chris named each song he was going to perform before bellowing his powerful voice over the crowd. They opened with his biggest hit “It’s Not Over” followed by “Home.” I cannot state enough how great his voice is in person. It echoed through the small hall and sounded nearly identical to any radio single he has put out thus far, even better so as the strain in his voice came over the microphone. It was quite impressive and it goes to show why he has become such a star after his success on American Idol, and even more surprising that he didn’t win. He finished with a couple newer songs as him and the band are finishing up an album and need to promote the newer stuff.
Then just like that, it was over. He gave his last pick to a young girl in the crowd and disappeared in to a back room. Eventually the crowd was led to take a single picture with the band before everyone went on their way. This has nothing to do with the actual performance of course, but after the show my fiancĂ© and I met up with Chris and other band member Elvio at a bar next door and hung out for 45 minutes with them both talking about various subjects. They seem truly humbled and honored to have made it this far in life and show business and it really showed how much they cared about their fans taking us in so freely. It really was just another awesome moment with a “celebrity” who could have easily called it a night after his show and went back on the road or to his hotel. I am looking forward to the next time our paths cross and hope to see him do an actual concert at some point.

Make America Great Again. Abolish the Quesalupa

The Quesalupa is Awful
(And it pains me to type these words)
I have a love/love relationship with Taco Bell. I love it when I want a guilty pleasure food and I love it when I want any kind of food. I will eat nearly anything and everything from these gourmet chefs. So did my eyes deceive me when I saw what looked to be the greatest combination of two items (quesadilla and chalupa at least, I think) made into a delicious God made treat? No, they did not! The Super Bowl advertisement did its job and I raced towards the 8th wonder of the world, Taco Bell.
I held in my hand something that was intended to change the fast food, nay, entire world! It worked! It changed my taste buds to actually hate something I had purchased from Taco Bell. I held in my hand a shell of empty promises. The commercials were built off a foundation of lies: gooey, cheesy, tear it apart and it melts my ass. It was just a chalupa. A regular chalupa that costs 2 dollars more than a regular chalupa. I was deceived and stabbed in the back by my favorite place. How could they do this to me and millions of other people? They should immediately cease and desist any and all commercials supporting this travesty of a taco cheese shell. The extra cheese just sat there, unmelted. The shell inside of the chalupa wasn’t even crispy, it’s as if they heated up a wet shell and made it hot as I ordered it.

I was so disappointed. America, don’t order a quesalupa. Vote for Trump, watch the Kardashians, just don’t let the quesalupa be a success. Just stick to everything else on the menu. The crunchwrap supreme is a staple of my Taco Bell diet. No order goes without it.
