It has definitely been a long time since I have updated my blog here, and what better time then now? I have been in New York on my own now for almost two weeks and just finished my 1st week at Sirius NFL Radio. I also got a job at this vegetarian place called Maoz which specializes in falafels. Fun stuff. Anyway, let me go over what I have been doing in New York. (My next blog will focus on what I have been doing at Sirius NFL Radio and why I love it so much.)
I am located in the heart of Manhattan about 12 blocks south of Central Park. Right in Midtown, less than 5 minutes from Times Square.
The people here are awesome. Yes, there is a lot of honking, people walk around with blinders on it seems like, and there are quite a few bums. But no one has really stood out to me as being that "New York rude person who flips you off and talks down to you with attitude"
The people here are just cool, down to earth human beings. Ive only seen like 3 affliction shirts, a handful of people with cut off shirts walking around like they own the place, and ed hardy seems like it never started. (This is all for fun and games, just comparing to where Ive lived my whole life)
My first night here by myself, I went to go see Conan O Brien at Radio City Music Hall. Well I didn't have a ticket because it was sold out, so I sat out front on my phone and craigslist hoping something would come up. Well, like 10 minutes before the show some guy is holding out a ticket saying its extra. So, I bought it from him, introduced myself and his self and his girlfriend or wife and that was that.
I was happy.
Well, I get into the lobby and went to buy a drink at the bar. Turns out the 2 people I bought the ticket from were in front of me line, they bought me a drink because they took all my cash for the ticket.
I returned the favor during the show, buying them each a drink.
We ended up talking the whole time until we parted ways after the show.
What a great first impression of New York.
I also havent had a TV the whole time, and don't miss it too much. However, its getting increasingly hard to watch the World Cup on my laptop, so hopefully we get a TV pretty soon.
Ill check in tomorrow (or later tonight) about my 1st week at Sirius NFL Radio
